North Shore Triangle Neighborhood Association Summary
North Shore Triangle Neighborhood Association
11 August 2008
Hello Neighbors,
Thanks to all who were able to attend the neighborhood meeting at St. Joe High School yesterday afternoon, especially to Jerry and Martha Kline. Some of you may know that Jerry was a founding member of the North Shore Triangle Neighborhood Association in 1975.
For those of you who missed the meeting, here’s a summary:
ß After a brief introduction to the history and purpose of the NST, we reviewed the duties of the Board (president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, at-large members); solicited volunteers who are interested in serving in these positions; and brainstormed about possible committees. Our new Board members are:
Aaron Holdsworth, President (810 W. Angela)
Cec Lucero, Vice President (133 Wakewa)
Angie Dvorak, Secretary
Barb Sutton, Treasurer
Heather Gray, At-Large, Communications
With regard to NST history, we talked about the importance of preserving the documents that have been handed down over the years, including Articles of Incorporation, the By-Laws, news clippings, etc. Mary Ellen O’Connell agreed to serve as our liaison to the historical society, and will investigate what we need to do to properly archive the papers.
We also talked about organizing various neighborhood committees.
The committees are:
Block Captains – communicate information to your block and from your block.
Neighborhood Watch
Communication Committee – communicating info to the neighborhood and between the different committees and board members.
Hospitality/Welcome Committee – Greeting new residents
Fundraising Committee
Party Planning Committee – help with neighborhood wide parties
Community Service Committee – Join your neighbors to give back to the community with service projects
Green Committee – For beautification of our neighborhood
If you are interested in participating on one or more of these committees but were unable to attend the meeting, there is still opportunity to sign up. Please contact Heather Gray to include you on the list for a committee, and someone will be in touch about an organizational meeting. Heather Gray hsgray@mac.com 904-3000.
ß One important issue that the Board and the Green Committee will tackle right away is alley clean-up for organic waste. Martha Kline has taken the first steps and called the City about alley clean-up. Perhaps because of budget cuts, the City apparently cannot undertake an all-neighborhood clean-up. NST’s Green Committee will look further into what might be possible for an all-neighborhood alley clean-up, which may include hiring a private business. Tune in for more information
ß Please be reminded of the Neighborhood Yard Sale this Saturday, August 16, 8 – 3 p.m.

Gourmet Pancake Breakfast at Studio Arts Sat. 9th
Gourmet Pancake Breakfast
Saturday, August 9
9am to Noon
Buttermilk, Multigrain, Southern Style, Hawaiian,
Blueberry, Apple, Chocolate Chip, Fruit & Nut, Mixed Nuts
I ‘threatened’ the June Pancake Breakfast might be our last, but after the wonderful crowd we had and the super article and video by South Bend Tribune intern, Erica Morrison, the breakfast tradition continues!
So many people have become a part of this tradition. Our cooks deserve a BIG round of applause. Julia Head, Lynne Duvall and her son Ben served up just under 600 pancakes in June. Ben did double duty!He also played his cello for us.
Tammy Golubski makes the best coffee cakes. Matt Dopper provides the fair trade coffee. Bob Kaser ’sings’ for his breakfast. And his wife Loretta and son Chris are the best of kitchen helpers. Greg Molchan can always be counted on to do the heavy duty cleaning of pots & pans. Needless to say, the breakfast continues because of the volunteer support.
These very volunteers were the most outspoken in favor of continuing the breakfast! The reason why it was unanimous lies in the joy we get from everyone who comes.
Thank you to all who spend these Saturday mornings at Studio Arts supporting ourprograms and general operating expenses.Your support has helped to keep our doors open thru some very lean times. THANK YOU!
SO! Come one. Come all!
