I’m very excited to see this kind of communication in the neighborhood. Thanks for putting in the effort to help make our community a better place. I hope everyone makes use of this resource, I know I will!

Heather and I live with our 2 year old son on Marquette Ave. Glad to see this blog!
Is anyone interested in finding space for a community garden project?

Dear Neighbors,
I’m a new neighbor of 6 months. I am writing to thank you all for your encouragement in fixing up my new home. This is by far THE BEST NEIGHBORHOOD full of great people that I have ever lived in. I feel so fortunate that I am able to live here close to the River, Notre Dame, the Trail and my office. I am restoring 313 Tonti Street, an abandoned house of over 2 years. It was the worst place in the triangle! The inside is done and the outside I am slowly but surely getting there. Thanks again for your support!

Hi Folks,
We’re also semi-new to the triangle, having moved into 102 Marquette on the corner of Marquette and Michigan in January. Lots of traffic, but we welcome it as the bustling sounds reminds us of home (we own a home in Los Angeles). We enjoy this little city community though and our triangle neighborhood as well. It’s refreshing to have a 5 minute drive to work rather than a 2.5 hour one-way commute with massive traffic. All of a sudden I have 5 extra hours in my day that I’m still trying to figure out what to do with.
It’s nice living by the river where we can go fishing, and being only 35 minutes from the beach of St. Joseph against Lake Michigan, which in all honesty, is probably the nicest beach and beachtown area we’ve ever seen (and we’ve seen MANY along the SOCAL coastline from San Diego, up the PCH to San Francisco Bay area).
Looking forward to meeting more of you from the neighborhood.

So glad to see another blog site dedicated to this great neighborhood since the other one dissapeared. As a member of a family that has lived in the Northshore Triangle Neighborhood since 1948, this blog site is a very welcome new addition! Thank you!

I’m very interested in a community garden site. I know there are management issues plus start-up costs and hungry rodents to think about, but I think it’s worth pursuing. We have lots of shade on N. Lafayette and I want to grow melons and vegetables. Let’s talk.

I just wanted to join in on thanking the moderator for putting this blog together. I’ve heard of other communities doing such a thing and am so happy to be part of our little triangle.

I love the idea of having a neighborhood blog. I have enjoyed reading all of your posts. I will be sure to check back often.
I have lived in the triangle for almost 2 years. Unfortunately I have not met a lot of people, but those who I have met have been wonderful! Feel free to introduce yourself. You will find me walking through the triangle with my dog, Gretta (Yorkie).

Don and I have lived here for 48 years and we and our six children have always loved our neighborhood. It is wonderful to see new families move in and continue to revitalize this special place. We have everything a neighborhood needs–sidewalks, parks, garages in the back, integration, spirit, and concern for each other. Thanks to the folks who started this new blog to help us be a community.

Host families desperately needed to host foreign exchange students for 4 weeks starting next Thrs July 24. Several neighbors are already hosting, so there will be a support network right in your neighborhood! Students are to attend classes at St. Joe hall (off Douglas) on ND campus M-F 830a-2p. All you need to do is provide a bed (mine won’t even have her own room, she is sharing with my daughter) and meals! If you ever wanted to host a foreign exchange student but did not want to commit to a whole year, now is your opportunity!

My partner Deb and I can’t make it to the association meeting today, but we are also so glad to see this effort taking off!
To continue the thread about the Penninos, we are peripherally connected as we moved into the house that Winnie Kilbase moved out of on Marquette in 2001:). We inherited her wonderful garden and attempt to keep it up to the best of our ability. We can often be seen walking our smilely Border Collie/Shepherd mix, Delaney.
For the next family to spotlight, I recommend the Kirsits who are our neighbors and also do so much for the community!

Our friends on Wakewa just told us about the site, so we’re joining…better late than never! We’ve lived in the gray capecod on Ostemo for three years now and have a 9-month old little boy, Reese. We love this little neighborhood and our neighbors. Thanks for starting this up!
